Long Term Results?
Submitted by BillU on Wed, 2008-07-16 15:26.I was researching Lasik and came across www.lasiksucks4u.com, which completely turned me off to Lasik for good (and for good reason). However, the option of PRK was still on the table as the procedure is inherently safer and carries less risk than Lasik (no flap, etc.). This site has been great and I loved reading everyone's experiences, however, most of the comments only talk about the first week or first few weeks or recovery. What about long term results and satisfaction? Did all of your dryness and light sensitivity and halo/starburst issues go away?
PRK with Custom Wavefront Technology
Submitted by acambisi on Fri, 2008-07-04 15:40.To start off, I really enjoyed reading the postings in this forum prior to, and after my PRK vision correction. Naturally I did a lot of research on the standard LASIK procedure before I even went in for my vision check / pre op appointment. There my heart was broken when I was told that I have LARGE pupils and would be a better candidate for PRK. At first I questioned the whole idea and wondered if PRK would produce the same vision correction I have heard so many good things about LASIK.
PRK another experience
Submitted by hawaii_dan on Wed, 2008-05-21 18:57.I though I'd share my recent experience as well for those of you doing your research, I found this forum before my surgery and appreciated all the info that it had to offer.

PRK--3/20/2008
Submitted by Graffiti on Thu, 2008-04-03 15:02.Hi, I found this blog the day before my sugery and I found it's kind of helpful to read other people's experience. I decided to give back by sharing mine.
The surgery was done about 6 P.M. so I went to sleep after a brief dinner. Since I watched the whole process on YOUTUBE, I knew exactly what happens, so I am kindda prepared. But I would not watch the clip if I do it over again, because it's very discouraging and scary, I almost gave it up.
Recovery Day 1, completely no uncomfort. I walked arond in the apartment normally.
PRK Sucess... so far
Submitted by oishii on Wed, 2008-03-26 11:05.I just had PRK done on both eyes this past Friday, March 21st. I did a lot of research beforehand so I would be prepared when I went in. I was absolutely terrified of the post-surgery pain that was reported on so many blogs and forums but I was committed to getting it done, especially since I already paid!
PRK success -- severe myopia, astigmatism, pre-existing dry eyes
Submitted by kimidimuse on Fri, 2008-01-04 13:57.Hi. Just wanted to share my recovery story, as I was a pretty tough case for laser vision correction.
I had a -10 prescription on my left eye, a lot of astigmatism, and preexisting dry eyes (that my doctor did everything he could to treat before PRK).
I was not a candidate for LASIK because it would have worsen my dry eyes.
So, we opted for PRK on the left eye first, and to let that eye completely heal before proceeding onto the right eye (4 months later)
The doctor's predicted "best correctable vision" was 20/25 on the left eye (I reached 20/20!).
Here's how it went for my left eye.
Hope it provides some valuable info for people who are considering or getting PRK.

PRK or LASIK - cyclist / skiing - will LASIK flap create issues?
Submitted by jhebda on Thu, 2007-12-06 17:24.Hey everybody-
I have a couple of questions for those that have gone through the LASIK or PRK process. I am currently going to get laser correction (at Kraff - Matt, believe this is the same place you went), and am still unsure whether to get PRK or LASIK. My main concern is with the LASIK flap. I bike quite often and ski as well. I fall often when I ski, and while I can't say I crash often on the bike, I assume it'll happen sooner or later.
I'm worried about the flap popping out in a collision, getting messed up if somebody accidentally pokes me in the eye, etc. Is this a concern I should really have with these activities (and knowing I'm prone to stupid accidents like getting poked in the eye)?

PRK Sucess Stories?
Submitted by sirddb on Wed, 2007-10-17 16:12.I admit that after reading a lot of the blogs, I'm a bit aprehensive about my PRK this Friday. It seems the recovery time is a lot more intense than any of the doctors imply.
My question is, are there any PRK success stories out there? Sometimes only the bad experiences get voiced while the good experiences are enjoying 20/20 and not browsing blogs!
Let's see if we can find the fastest recovery time out there...I need some motivation for Friday! I intended to go back to work on Day 5...is this overly optomistic?
