Goal highlights from indoor

The NSL started filming all indoor games played on the nicest field (south field). We have played on it a couple of times this season and one of the games (wisla) was 7:5 so lots of goals. Since this is my blog, I get to point out the plays I'm involved in..Eye-wink I'm #7. In the Khaboor game, I'm the one carrying the ball up the field for the second goal (couldn't finish the pass off the boards). In the Wisla game I was credited two goals (our first two) and two assists. If the links die for whatever reason, I've attached the videos below...

Lost in PKs

We played our quarterfinal match last Sunday and it was a pretty fun game to play. We were playing on turf-grass so the pace of the game was a bit faster but the passing was much cleaner. It took us 86 minutes to tie up the match 1:1 and neither side scored in overtime. We lost 4:2 in PKs.. rough way to get knocked out. I have attached the game summary posted by the club. Hopefully, we can do better next year!

Stare Byki FC rolling toward the playoffs

Our soccer team is definitely rolling now.. we played the first place team in the other group today and they got lucky to come away with a 2:2 draw. Our record stands at 9-4-2 (w-d-l) and I was hoping to get to 10 wins this week. Next week we play the first place team in our group (nice easy couple of weeks eh?), but I'm going to miss that game due to an out of town wedding. The week after that, the playoffs begin; we should go pretty deep into them. After our performance today, the finals are a very real possibility. Wish me luck! Eye-wink

Stare Byki FC 1:0 Deportivo Colomex (outdoor)

Man do I love playing outdoor. This week we played a rematch of our final game last year (in the playoffs); Colomex eliminated us in the first round and went on to win the tournament. Last year's game was pretty nuts. We were down 3 goals at half-time but came back to tie the game up with about 10 minutes left. In the 90th minute (literally) however, a Colomex forward scored an unassisted goal. Brutal way to lose.

This year the game was very close and looked like it was going to end 0:0. But this time one of our forwards scored an unassisted goal in the 85th minute. Can't wait for the next match with these guys..

Stare Byki FC 3:0 HNNK Hrvat B

We pasted these guys.. the score makes the game seem closer than it really was. Coming off of last week's team effort, we still had it going this week. I had a nice day personally with a goal and an assist. The really good trend is the uptick in team play.. we are starting to get rolling. If we win next week I think the rest of the season will be pretty fun. I love winning.. Eye-wink

Stare Byki FC 1:1 Real Independiente

Real was totally on a roll before they ran into us.. I think they had won 6 straight before tonight. Thankfully we had a full squad there (15 players), so each player could run balls-out for the entire game. At the same time it was tough to get into any real offensive flow because the substitutions were happening so rapidly. I wasn't displeased with the result but wasn't super pumped about it either.

Stare Byki : 8-2 : Transylvania Vampires

Man do I love whipping a team! We take enough abuse in this league, and it is really nice to dole some out. Personally, I had a pretty good evening with a goal and an assist but as a team we dominated them in all aspects.

Stare Byki : 2-4 : FK Podrinje

The skid continues.. Even thought we lost, this was a pretty good game overall. The team was playing quite well in the early goings of each half but faltered in the later minutes. We made three dumb mistakes in the back and each one cost us a goal...

Stare Byki : 3-11 : KF Ulqin

Holy crap is all I have to say about this pasting the team received from Ulqin! Shocked I didn't make the game but heard about it yesterday. It seems our good friend lack of effort showed up for the Byki side and we were punished accordingly.

Stare Byki : 4-4 : Lake Shore B

Well we played better than we did last week, but still not well enough to win the game outright. There were some signs that we are actually a team that has played together before.. Eye-wink We still suffered from a lack of intensity that really hurt us last week. I am still hopeful that we can pull it together before we play a good team; up until now, the competition has been light. Next week should be a good litmus test for how prepared we are for the rest of the season.
