Power saving and sleep mode

Motivation

The laptop has a nicely functioning battery. I can definitely see not plugging-in this laptop all of the time. If the machine doesn't automatically go into some kind of power saving mode when this happens, the battery isn't going to last very long and I'm gonna get a phone call.

I also think that the native IBM stuff should work.. all of the [function key] + # stuff. I view this kind of stuff as a laptop standard that should be upheld whenever possible.
