Motivation
This laptop isn't intended for serious gaming or anything of that nature, but using the proper display drivers at the proper resolution helps the user experience. Seeing things in full color and layout is important.
Setup
During the debian install..
- Choose the neomagic driver.
- Choose 16bit color.
- Choose a maximum resolution of 1024x768.
If you don't get the settings correct during the install, don't worry you can always copy the attached XF86Config-4 file to /etc/X11. After you replace the file you can either reboot or try logging out and back in again.
Note: For whatever reason if I try to use KDE (instead of the default GNOME), the screen completely washes out. I had to reboot to get the washing to go away, even if I logged out and picked GNOME instead. I don't use KDE on a regular basis so I didn't really put much time into figuring out why that happens.
