Recent PRK Surgery
I agree Randy that the healing process is a lot slower than some might be led to believe.
I just had PRK surgery 3 weeks ago. I was very nervous and at the last minute a technician suggested just getting one eye done at a time, to alleviate my fear. So that's what I did... and boy am I glad. My vision was very blurry after the surgery, and it took about 2 weeks to clear up... and by that I just mean to 20/40. (I think now I must be closer to 20/20/.) But had I had both eyes done, I wouldn't have been able to drive until recently, and I would say that for the first week, I wouldn't have even been able to safely leave the house to go for a walk; that's how blurry my vision was. Now, I started with a very bad prescription (-9.00), so pre-surgery I couldn't have done much without glasses either, but I wasn't expecting the recovery to take so long. In retrospect I am surprised they were going to let me get both eyes done on the same day; being housebound etc. would have been very hard to take!
As it is - my surgery was a success; today is day 21 and my vision is pretty darn good, and I was able to function just fine during the recovery with a contact in my other eye. I'll probably wait another month before i get the other eye done, just because I am really busy with work and I now realize that getting the surgery, even in one eye, does slow you down a fair bit.
