Sullivan not looking at whole picture
Andrew asks and answers the question-- Who's looking for "sex" the most? I think he gets it wrong. Andrew comes to the conclusion that Muslim repression is the driving force behind all of the google searches for sex. The problem is that we don't know how google computes its trends. Take the trend analysis for sex bad or sex worker.. you get Iran and India as the major players.
I'm sure I could come up with more searches that include the word sex and find more sexually repressed countries at the top. My point is that context is key. Since we don't know google's algorithm, we really can't surmise the context. If google showed us the most popular search terms by country.. that might give more insight into what is really being searched. I realize that Andrew's entry was probably tongue-in-cheek, but I thought I'd reply anyway.
